Jazz and Huawei to Solarize 1,000 Telecom Sites in Pakistan

Islamabad: Jazz, a leading digital operator in Pakistan, has joined forces with Huawei to install solar energy solutions at 1,000 telecom sites across the country. This initiative aims to enhance network sustainability by reducing reliance on conventional energy sources and lowering operational costs.

The project will utilize Huawei’s advanced iSolar technology, which is expected to cut energy expenses by up to 96% while ensuring uninterrupted connectivity. This move aligns with Jazz’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, promoting a greener and more efficient telecom infrastructure.

The agreement was signed digitally during the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, with executives from VEON (Jazz’s parent company), Jazz, and Huawei in attendance. Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim emphasized the importance of integrating renewable energy solutions to enhance customer experience while supporting environmental sustainability.

Huawei’s Phillip Gan, President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, expressed confidence that this collaboration will set a new standard for green energy adoption in the telecom industry. By transitioning to solar-powered telecom sites, Jazz is actively contributing to a more sustainable digital ecosystem in Pakistan.

This initiative highlights Pakistan’s growing investment in smart energy solutions for its telecom and digital infrastructure, reinforcing the country’s push toward sustainable technology adoption.
