Hafizabad Incident: Three Christian Children Die, Five in Critical Condition After Consuming Tainted Sweets

Hafizabad – April 15, 2025:
A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Hafizabad, where eight Christian children became severely ill after eating sweets believed to be deliberately poisoned. Tragically, three of the children have died, and five others remain in critical condition at a hospital in Lahore.
Eyewitnesses say that unidentified individuals entered a Christian residential area and handed out traditional sweets, claiming they were gifts. Within a short time of consuming them, the children began to vomit and show alarming symptoms of poisoning.
Local health authorities rushed to respond, but despite efforts, three young lives could not be saved. The remaining children were shifted to Lahore for advanced medical treatment, where doctors are closely monitoring their condition.
Law enforcement has taken notice of the case. Police have gathered evidence, sealed off the area, and sent the sweet samples to a laboratory for forensic examination. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against unknown suspects, and security personnel are actively trying to trace those responsible.
“This act has left the entire town in shock,” said a community member. “It wasn’t just an attack on children, but an attack on humanity.”
The District Police Officer stated that the case is being treated with utmost urgency, and those behind the incident will face full legal consequences.
Religious and civil society leaders have denounced the attack, demanding justice and stronger protection for minority communities. Many have also urged government officials to ensure such heinous acts do not go unpunished.
As Hafizabad mourns, prayers continue for the recovery of the surviving children, and the community stands united in its demand for accountability.
