Ahmadi Place of Worship Attacked in Faisalabad, Victims Detained Instead of Perpetrators

Samundri, Faisalabad – March 21, 2025: A mob attacked an Ahmadi place of worship in Samundri, Faisalabad, in yet another alarming incident of religious violence in Pakistan. The attack, allegedly carried out by members of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), led to the destruction of the site. However, instead of arresting the attackers, local police reportedly detained members of the Ahmadi community.
According to eyewitnesses, the mob vandalized the Ahmadi worship site, chanting slogans and causing significant damage. Despite clear evidence of the attack, law enforcement authorities took action against the victims rather than the perpetrators. This has sparked outrage among human rights activists, who have long criticized the authorities for failing to protect religious minorities.
Pakistan has faced increasing scrutiny for its treatment of the Ahmadiyya community, which has been systematically marginalized due to discriminatory laws. Attacks on Ahmadi places of worship have become more frequent, with extremists often acting with impunity.
Human rights organizations have condemned the incident and called for immediate intervention to ensure justice. “This is a clear violation of fundamental rights. Instead of holding extremists accountable, the victims are being punished,” said a representative from a human rights watchdog.
Despite constitutional guarantees of religious freedom, Ahmadis in Pakistan face severe discrimination, often being targeted by both extremist groups and state policies. This latest incident in Faisalabad underscores the growing influence of religious hardliners and the ongoing challenges in upholding the rule of law.
The international community continues to express concern over Pakistan’s handling of religious minority rights. Calls for reform and protection of vulnerable communities remain urgent as such incidents highlight the deep-rooted issues of intolerance and injustice.
