India vs New Zealand Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final: India Clinch Third Title with Thrilling Four-Wicket Win

Dubai, March 10, 2025 – India emerged victorious in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling contest at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With this win, India secured their third Champions Trophy title, having previously won in 2002 (shared) and 2013.

New Zealand Post Competitive 251-7

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, New Zealand suffered an early setback with fast bowler Matt Henry ruled out due to a shoulder injury. The Black Caps, however, put up a competitive total of 251-7, thanks to crucial half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53* off 40 balls).

India’s spinners dominated the innings, with Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picking up two wickets each, stifling the New Zealand batters on a sluggish Dubai pitch. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with a wicket each, ensuring that New Zealand never gained full momentum.

India’s Bowling Performance Shines

New Zealand openers started cautiously before Rachin Ravindra (37) attempted to accelerate. However, Kuldeep Yadav’s sharp googly dismissed him, triggering a mini-collapse. Captain Kane Williamson, fresh from a century in the semi-final, fell for 11, caught and bowled by Kuldeep.

Mitchell and Tom Latham tried to stabilize the innings, but Jadeja trapped Latham LBW for 14. Mitchell continued to fight, stitching a 57-run stand with Glenn Phillips (34). But just as New Zealand looked set for a big finish, Chakravarthy struck again, dismissing Phillips with a fast googly. Bracewell’s late surge, including three fours and two sixes, ensured a competitive total of 251-7.

India Chase 252 to Secure Historic Victory

Chasing 252, India relied on their experienced top-order to get off to a solid start. Rohit Sharma (45) and Shubman Gill (38) built a strong foundation before a middle-order wobble saw India losing wickets in quick succession. However, Virat Kohli (62) and KL Rahul (49) steadied the innings with a crucial partnership.

Despite losing Rahul and Kohli in the final stretch, Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 33 guided India home with four wickets in hand and seven balls to spare. The Indian dressing room erupted in celebrations as they lifted their third ICC Champions Trophy, putting them ahead of Australia, who have won two titles (2006, 2009).

India’s Dominance in ICC Tournaments Continues

With this victory, India continued their impressive record in ICC tournaments under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. The team’s unbeaten run in Dubai, their strategic spin attack, and their composed chase showcased their dominance on the global stage.

New Zealand, despite a spirited effort, fell short in their quest for a maiden Champions Trophy title. The Black Caps will look to regroup and come back stronger in future ICC events.
