JUI-F Presses PTI for Clarity Over Alleged Establishment Links Before Alliance Talks

ISLAMABAD – In the midst of behind-the-scenes political maneuvering, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to provide a clear stance on its rumored communications with the country’s powerful establishment. The request comes as both parties explore the possibility of a political understanding.
JUI-F leadership, led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has voiced unease over entering any alliance without knowing who is actually calling the shots within PTI, particularly given that key figures such as Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi remain incarcerated. The party is reportedly cautious about entering any political agreement that could lead to misunderstandings later.
Insiders say JUI-F is also urging PTI to come forward with a written roadmap if it wants serious dialogue. They believe a documented commitment would prevent future disputes, especially if a joint anti-government movement takes shape.
Another sticking point has been PTI’s past criticism of Maulana Fazlur Rehman—something the JUI-F expects to be addressed before cooperation can move forward. Sources suggest that without reconciliation on this front, mutual trust remains out of reach.
While informal contacts continue between the two camps, JUI-F has delayed any final call on collaboration until after Eid, opting instead to consult its top leadership for a collective decision.
Although the door isn’t closed, progress hinges on PTI’s willingness to offer transparency, respect, and a clear path forward.
