NADRA Issues Updated Age Correction Guidelines for NICOP Holders in 2025
Islamabad – April 2025:
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced streamlined procedures for overseas Pakistanis holding NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis) who wish to make changes to their date of birth information.
Under the new guidelines, NICOP holders can now initiate age modification requests through multiple channels, including the official Pak Identity Portal, the Pak ID mobile app, or by visiting the nearest NADRA Registration Center (NRC) in person. This multi-platform access aims to simplify the process for applicants, especially those living abroad.
Key Documents Required: To apply for a date of birth correction, applicants must provide:
- A valid passport
- Original birth certificate
- A notarized affidavit explaining the reason for the correction
- Any other supporting evidence (such as academic records or medical documents)
In certain cases, documents submitted from abroad may require attestation by the respective Pakistani Embassy or Consulate.
Processing Options & Fees: NADRA is offering three tiers of service for this process—Normal, Urgent, and Executive—each with varying fees and processing times. Exact charges can be found on the NADRA Fee Structure page.
Important Considerations: Authorities emphasize that age correction requests are taken seriously and are generally approved only in cases of genuine discrepancies or administrative errors. Additional scrutiny or verification may be required before approval is granted.
