Neetu Chandra Files PIL Against Honey Singh’s ‘Maniac’ Song for Objectifying Women

Actor Neetu Chandra has taken legal action against rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh by filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Patna High Court. She claims that his latest song, Maniac, portrays women in a degrading manner and promotes vulgarity.

Chandra has particularly raised concerns about the song’s use of the Bhojpuri language, arguing that it normalizes inappropriate content and negatively influences young listeners, especially in Bihar. She emphasized that such music affects the confidence and safety of women in public spaces and questioned the lack of restrictions on songs that promote sexism.

This is not the first time Honey Singh has faced legal trouble over his lyrics. Previously, his song Makhna faced backlash for similar reasons, and in 2013, he was booked for offensive lyrics in another track.

The PIL lists Honey Singh, lyricist Leo Grewal, and Bhojpuri singers Ragini Vishwakarma and Arjun Ajanabi as respondents. Chandra is urging the court to take action against the song and amend its lyrics. The case is expected to be heard in March.
