Pakistan Criticizes Ban on Kashmiri Organizations in IIOJK

Pakistan has strongly opposed India’s recent decision to ban multiple Kashmiri political organizations in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian government declared the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL) and various factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) as “unlawful associations.” Additionally, the ban on the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), led by Yasin Malik, has been extended for another five years.

In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned the move, calling it an attempt to silence political dissent and suppress the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as recognized by United Nations Security Council resolutions. It further stated that such actions violate international human rights standards and democratic principles.

With these latest bans, the total number of outlawed Kashmiri political groups has risen to 14. Pakistan has urged India to revoke these restrictions, release political detainees, including Yasin Malik, and uphold international commitments regarding the Kashmir issue.

This latest development reflects the ongoing tensions in the region and the broader challenges surrounding the Kashmir conflict.
