PTI Leadership Urges KP Assembly Speaker to Step Down Amid Political Unrest

Peshawar – April 6, 2025: In a significant political development, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati to resign from his position. The directive reportedly comes from PTI founder Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail.

Senior PTI member Azam Swati, after meeting Imran Khan, confirmed to media that the party’s internal committee had recommended Speaker Swati’s resignation. The move is seen as an attempt to reinforce discipline within the party and to align with collective decisions taken by the PTI leadership.

The timing of the directive is critical, as it coincides with rumors of a looming no-confidence motion against the Speaker. Political observers believe this internal shift is part of PTI’s broader strategy to maintain cohesion and stability in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly amid rising tensions.

The situation continues to unfold as PTI attempts to manage internal differences while navigating the broader national political challenges.
