PTI Seeks Access to Imran Khan Ahead of Crucial Security Briefing

Islamabad – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded a meeting with its imprisoned leader, Imran Khan, before deciding on its participation in an upcoming in-camera session on national security. The party insists that consulting Khan is essential for formulating its stance on key national issues.

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security is set to convene on March 18, 2025, at the Parliament House, where military officials are expected to brief lawmakers on the country’s security challenges. However, PTI has stated that its members will only attend if they are granted access to their party chairman.

PTI’s Information Secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, emphasized that the party will not engage in discussions without first receiving directives from Imran Khan. He further stated that PTI remains committed to addressing national security concerns but believes its leader’s guidance is critical in shaping their policy approach.

This demand has sparked a new political debate, with government circles yet to respond formally to PTI’s request. The outcome of this situation could impact the dynamics of the security briefing and the party’s role in national security discussions. Political analysts suggest that this move by PTI reflects its strategy to maintain Khan’s influence in party decisions, despite his incarceration.

As the date for the session approaches, all eyes are on whether the government will allow PTI leaders to meet Imran Khan or if the party will choose to boycott the briefing, further intensifying political tensions in the country.
