Suicide Attack at Pakistani Seminary Kills Five, Injures 20

Nowshera, Pakistan – Five individuals were killed and 20 injured in a fatal suicide bombing attack on a religious seminary in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, police and rescue officials reported.
The assault was at “Darul Uloom Haqqania,” where the seminary caretaker, Maulana Hamid ul Haq Haqqani, was the apparent target. He was seriously wounded in the blast, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed to local media in reports.
The attacker detonated an explosive device among Friday worshippers, district police officer Abdul Rashid said. The blast caused heavy casualties, with most of the victims in critical condition.
Rescue 1122 officials informed that the emergency teams also took the injured to nearby hospitals. A state of emergency has been declared in three hospitals in the district, while medical complexes in Peshawar also went into a high alert in order to cover the number of victims.
The location has also been cordon off by security forces, as the inquiry continues. No party has claimed the attack until now.
