Zulfi Bukhari’s Attock Residence Sealed Amid £190 Million Corruption Case

ATTOCK: Authorities have sealed the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari in the cantonment area of Attock, following directives from the Accountability Court Islamabad, the Indus Examiner reported on Wednesday.

The action was taken as Bukhari has been declared an absconder in the £190 million corruption case. Last year, the accountability court ordered the confiscation of properties linked to the former federal minister.

The verdict, delivered by Accountability Court Judge Nisar Javed Rana, came after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a request for the seizure of Bukhari’s assets. The court ordered the confiscation of a 30-kanal plot and another four-kanal plot located in Islamabad. Additionally, a 1,210-kanal property in Attock, including a 91-kanal plot, has also been seized by the state. The judge instructed the authorities to submit a report within seven days.

Previously, NAB petitioned the court to seize Bukhari’s properties, and the Ministry of Interior approved issuing a red warrant against the PTI leader. A red warrant is an international notice sent to Interpol, seeking the arrest and extradition of an individual.

NCA Case: The National Accountability Bureau initiated an investigation into Imran Khan, his wife, and others regarding the alleged acquisition of hundreds of kanals of land under the Al-Qadir University Trust, which reportedly caused a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer.

As per the allegations, the former prime minister and his associates are accused of adjusting Rs50 billion — equivalent to £190 million at the time — sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government.

NAB filed a corruption reference against Imran Khan and seven others, including his wife, concerning the Al-Qadir University case. The PTI chief officially registered the Al-Qadir University Trust on December 26, 2019.
